Mid-April should find trout anglers in all their glory. A few exceptions may be at higher elevations where ice-out tends to come later than other parts of the state. Trout stocking should also be intensifying in the coming weeks and is also keyed primarily on water temperatures.
April 1 is a New York angler’s holiday as it is the traditional opening day of trout season. One never knows what opening day will bring. Location pending, the weather could be more like spring, or perhaps that of winter.
